Additive properties of multiplicatively defined sets

Chi Hoi Yip (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong)

Sat Jul 18, 14:30-14:55 (8 days from now)
Lecture held in Science Center in the CUNY Graduate Center (4th floor).

Abstract: Understanding the additive structure of multiplicatively defined sets, including the primes, perfect squares, perfect powers, powerful numbers, and smooth numbers, remains a fundamental open challenge. In this talk, I will talk about some recent progress on related results. In particular, I will discuss arithmetic progressions, sumsets, and Hilbert cubes in some well-studied multiplicatively defined sets, as well as their interactions. Joint work with Ernie Croot and Junzhe Mao.
